Granelito is a hard-won journey to bring love and strength to the world, community and self. Their focus is on quality materials, comfort and bright designs and thei mission is to provide positive forms of nurture through careful consideration in materials, labor practices and an open-ended approach towards gender.
Part of starting Granelito was to fulfill their desire to make sustainable and ethical clothing. On this they will not compromise and they are committed to continually figure out new solutions to become more sustainable.
All of their cotton garments are made from 100% organic Pima cotton grown in the northern coast of Peru in Piura. Due to its extra long fibers, Pima cotton is more durable than conventional cotton. They work directly with our cut and sew factory in Lima, Peru who work directly with the companies growing the cotton, knitting their fabrics and dying and printing our designs.
This year they started to use compostable mailers from Noissue. Furthermore we are using as little packaging material as possible. Their newborn gift baskets, that are made by hand in Peru in the homes of the artisans, are reusable and eventually compostable.
All Granelito garments are unisex. They don’t see a reason to divide our collections into two genders (and neither do we). This way it’s also easier to share a wardrobe between siblings, cousins, friends and other kids in need of clothes. Their hope is we all buy fewer new garments and share more.
Granelito encourages you to buy our clothes in bigger sizes so your kid can use them longer. Not only is it adorable to see oversized garments on kids, but it’s also fun to see them grow into the clothes and how the fit changes over time.
