A classic round pacifier in a timeless design. Designed and made in Denmark.

BIBS COLOUR has been on the market for over 40 years – an all-time favorite! BIBS COLOUR is the preferred pacifier for many children because of the cherry shaped nipple. The shape of both shield and nipple is like a mother’s breast and is the optimal support for a natural sucking reflex and for breastfeeding.

The nipple is made of 100% natural rubber latex – which is soft and flexible. The nipple is equipped with a vent hole, letting out the air to make the teat shape as natural as possible. Because of the natural material, variations in color and clearness may occur – remember to replace within 4-6 weeks of regular use! The shield is convex which allows airflow to ventilate the delicate baby skin. The shield is made of polypropylene (PP), a very light plastic material with high strength, and is very wear resistant.

Size Information

BIBS Colour is available in 3 sizes. They have stated an approximate age for each size, but this should only be used as a guideline. The anatomy of small children is different from child to child, and some children prefer a larger or smaller nipple.

  • Baby Beginner - Size 1 - 0 to 6 months
  • Toddler - Size 2 - 6 to 18 months
  • Kids - Size 3 - 18+ months

Always inspect the product carefully before use, especially when the baby has teeth. Inspect the pacifier by pulling the nipple in all directions. Discard it at the first sign of damage or weakness.

Only use dedicated pacifier holders tested to EN 12586. In order to avoid accidents and strangulation, never attach other ribbons or cords to a pacifier. The pacifier should not be stored in direct sunlight.

There are often doubts about how to properly clean a pacifier, and there is a lot of more or less qualified advice on how and how often to do it floating around– so it is with good reason if you feel confused.

This is your guide to cleaning your BIBS pacifiers.

When cleaning your pacifiers, just follow these four simple steps:

  1. Put the pacifiers in a clean bowl.
  2. Pour boiling water over the pacifiers and let them soak for 5 minutes.
  3. Let the pacifiers dry and cool off on a clean towel.
  4. Use the towel to press out any excess water inside the nipple.

Most pacifiers are equipped with a valve. If the nipple has a valve, be sure to squeeze excess water out of the nipple after the pacifier has cooled off.

NOTE: You should only sterilize the pacifier before the first use.

TIP: When the child is more than 3 months old, you can also sterilize your pacifiers by placing them in a sieve and pouring boiling water over them. This method is faster and avoids excess water inside the nipple.

Caution! BIBS often receives inquiries from parents who have followed the National Board of Health’s recommendation of boiling the pacifier for 5 minutes. The result is broken pacifiers. DO NOT BOIL. Natural rubber latex is not meant to be boiled and is therefore damaged by the high heat.

Follow the instructions above, and you are sure to kill any bacteria without compromising the durability of the natural rubber latex nipple.

Part of good pacifier hygiene is frequent cleaning. The younger the child, the more important it is to maintain good pacifier hygiene.

  • Premature infants and babies younger than 3 months need more thorough and frequent cleaning.
  • 0-3 months: The pacifier must be scalded at least once a day. In addition, the pacifier must be scalded every time it has been on the floor.
  • 3+ months: Scald the pacifier once a day and rinse it under cold water if it has been on the floor.

I bought new pacifiers, but they seem smaller than the old one.

The latex nipple is affected by external influences like temperature, saliva, light, and heat. These changes are expressed in swelling, discoloration, stickiness, and loss of stability of the nipple by tensile load and correspond with the natural aging process of latex.

The enlarged pacifier nipple indicates that the nipple has been in use for a while, which has resulted in a swelling of the latex material. Therefore, the present size can differ from the original size and the new pacifier seems smaller than the old one.

When should you replace your pacifier?

  • Inspect carefully before each use. Pull the nipple in all directions. Throw away at the first signs of damage or weakness.
  • Replace the pacifier after 4-6 weeks of use, for safety and hygiene reasons.

My baby does not want the new pacifier that I bought

This could be caused by several things.  It could be that you have used the old pacifier for too long. This is one of the reasons why you should replace the pacifier every 4-6 weeks in order to avoid changes which might occur over time.

Why is my latex pacifier getting sticky on the surface?

Natural rubber latex is a natural material and is affected by sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture which accelerates the aging process of the latex material. Therefore, the material changes its properties and can become brittle or sticky. Whenever you experience a change in the material, the pacifier must be replaced.

How long can I use a pacifier?

It depends on how often it is in use, but we recommend a replacement every 4-6 weeks. Keep an eye out for any changes in the surface, changes in size and shape, or rupture in the material and replace the pacifier if you notice any differences. When your baby has teeth, make sure to pull the nipple in all directions before use and replace the pacifier at the first sign of damage or weakness.

Can I put my pacifiers in the dishwasher?

The pacifiers should not be cleaned in the dishwasher as this may damage the material.  Furthermore, most dishwashers do not reach temperatures high enough to sufficiently sterilize the pacifiers.

Can I use UV, microwave or other sterilizers for my BIBS?

We advise you not to use sterilizers for sterilization of latex pacifiers. This might cause material defects. Latex is a natural product and undergoes a natural aging process, which can be influenced by external forces.

There is water inside the nipple after cleaning?

After cleaning it is not unusual that water remains in the nipple. The residual water can be removed by squeezing the nipple after cooling off. If water drops remain in the nipple, just let the pacifier air-dry.

Why does the pacifier make a sound when in use?

Sometimes, when water remains in the nipple after sterilization it can cause a sound when the pacifier is used by your baby. There is no harm in a little water inside the nipple.

Why is the nipple clear on one pacifier and foggy on another?

Latex is a natural product with many positive properties like softness, high bite endurance, and tensile strength. However, latex is subject to natural material fluctuations which can become noticeable through a different optical appearance. Therefore, the nipple can vary in clearness and colour. The quality or product safety is not affected thereby.

Can I freeze the pacifiers when my baby is teething?

We would advise you not to freeze your pacifiers with or without water inside for two reasons:

  • The latex nipple is not intended for that kind of use. Therefore, we cannot ensure that the material or the material properties stay the same after such treatment.
  • The latex nipple has a low wall thickness. Hence, you should always avoid skin contact if frozen. Direct skin contact and even indirect skin contact with ice can cause skin injuries and frostbite.

How often should I clean the pacifier?

Sterilize the pacifier by putting it in a bowl with boiling water for 5 minutes before the first use.

  • Place the pacifiers in a clean and heat resistant bowl and pour boiling water over them.
  • Leave in the water for 5 minutes and let them dry on a clean towel afterwards.
  • Use the towel to press excess water out of the nipple.

Make sure the pacifiers is completely cooled down before giving it to your baby. Keep it clean by washing it with hot, soapy water after each use.

OVER 3 MONTHS: When the child is older than 3 months, you can also clean pacifiers by placing them in a sieve and pouring boiling water over them. This method is both faster and avoids water collecting inside the nipple.

Replacement: We recommend replacing the pacifiers after 4-6 weeks due to hygienic reasons. Do not use a pacifier that shows any changes in colour or other irregularities. Because it is natural rubber latex, the nipple may expand over time.
